Homeowners in Elkhorn, WI recently witnessed an outstanding transformation of their backyard, courtesy of Kaplan Paving. The project demanded innovative solutions due to the severe grade and notable slope of the site, resulting in an upper and lower patio that harmonizes with the property’s unique landscape. This impressive upgrade not only addresses the terrain’s challenges but also maximizes functionality for outdoor living and entertaining.
The dramatic elevation difference in this Elkhorn, WI backyard required careful planning and expert execution. Kaplan Paving approached the challenge by designing a two-level patio, enabling seamless transitions between distinct outdoor zones. This not only improved accessibility but also enhanced the homeowners’ ability to enjoy their property in new ways. The project stands as a top example of how creative brick paving solutions can turn even the toughest landscapes into usable, appealing spaces.
Lighting was a critical aspect of this Elkhorn project. Path lighting was installed along the connecting walkway, ensuring safe passage between the upper and lower patios after dark. Additionally, subtle and sleek lighting under the steps of the upper patio brings both safety and enchanting ambiance to the evenings. The thoughtful placement of outdoor lights provides a warm glow that highlights the beauty of the new brickwork as night falls.
Functionality meets form with the construction of a stone seating wall that both supports the upper patio and delivers generous seating around a portable, smokeless fire pit. This dual-purpose feature ensures the patio remains stable while providing a cozy gathering spot for family and friends, further elevating backyard comfort for the Elkhorn homeowners.
The result of this meticulous project is a beautifully tiered outdoor retreat where homeowners can relax, entertain, and fully utilize their once-challenging yard. Kaplan Paving’s expertise in dealing with complicated slopes, integrated lighting, and tailored stone elements has left another set of delighted clients who now enjoy their custom outdoor space to the fullest.
